When I asked Emily what she did to get the best weather possible for her late March wedding, she said, “I prayed really hard.” Clearly it worked because Emily and Clay’s wedding day at Dover Hall was full of sunshine, warmth, and joy.

This sweet couple and their families go way back, and you could tell. Emily wanted her mother and mother-in-law to feel special as they got ready, and presented them with personalized gifts before getting into her wedding dress. In turn, Clay’s mother presented her with an heirloom ring in a touching moment.

Dover Hall is a wedding venue reminiscent of a European estate, and it’s many rooms feel from another time. The bridal suite that Emily got dressed in was full of natural light, while Clay got ready in the Hunting Room with his groomsmen. The two met outside for their first look before moving into the Library for sentimental private vows.

We used the Parlor for their formal portraits, and I am in love with the soft blue of the room and that fireplace.

One of my favorite parts of the day was sunset portraits. Emily had visited Dover Hall all the way back in 2015 (and had snapped a photo out front), and she proclaimed then and there that she would get married there one day. Fast forward about a decade later, and we were recreating that photo in her wedding dress.
